Preference 2013

Preference this year was so much fun! I had such a fun group! For our day date, we went up to Red Cliffs and went hiking, and then just played up there for a while. The four girls in my group are on the Drill team, so we all had to be at the dance early, which didn't really happen because dinner took a lot longer than expected, but we really had a great time! We all got along so great! Everything turned out so perfect! Our pictures turned out so cute! I was so happy with them! My date, Glen is such a cutie! He's such a gentleman, and he was just so sweet! It was so great!

Sadies 2012

I have to say, Sadies this year was so much fun! I don't think it could've been any more fun than it was! I don't even know how to describe how much fun it was! I had the best group! All of the girls are on the drill team with me, so we're all super close, which made it super fun! We didn't have the day date planned until Saturday morning, but it turned out super great anyway! We ended up going hiking/ rock climbing, which was so much fun! My date, Kelson; he is such a cutie! :) He and I have so much fun together! After hiking, we took our dates home to get ready for the dance. We went to dinner at this incredible house, and then went to the dance. We stayed at the dance for a while, then went back to that incredible house that I mentioned, and we went swimming and hot tubbing :) It was such a great day!

Dear Friend

Dear Friend,

How is it that we are still friends, since you never text me, or call me? I know you live more than two houses away now, but I still care about you, and I sorta wish you still cared about me. You cross my mind at least 35 times a day, I always wonder how you are, who you like, how your team is doing, things like that. Oh, and I always want to talk to you. Remember when you used to be the one who I could talk to about anything and everything? Well I sorta miss that... I sorta miss you... Scratch that, I really miss you! I miss you more that I thought I ever would. If by some miracle, you read this, and want to call me, I won't be mad if you do. To me, you're still important, and I honestly don't think that will ever change.

Junior Year

Tomorrow, I am going to be a junior! How crazy is that?!?! I'm sort of stressed out... meaning: I'm s super big procrastinator, and still haven't even bothered memorizing my schedule, finding a backpack, or getting a binder together. I don't know if I have friends in my classes, I don't even know where half of my classes are. On the contrary, I am so excited for my Junior year! I can't wait to see my friends, and I'm really excited to get back to a daily routine. There are so many things that are different from my sophomore year. As far as drill is concerned, I am so overly excited for this next year! As luck would have it, I can't dance again until the end of September or the beginning of October. I had surgery on my ankle three weeks ago, and have four wicked scars above my heel! I got hurt dancing and the doctor had to take the sheath out of my ankle, because it was so tight; making dancing very difficult and painful. But, the surgery is done, and I'm on the mend. School... my goals for this year are almost the exact opposite of what they were last year. Last year, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't be shy at all. I made it my goal to have a boyfriend as soon as I turned 16. I didn't really care about school, or dance, or anything that's actually important. All I wanted, was to be a social butterfly, with hundreds of friends, and a boyfriend in every class (not really, but close to that). Sure, my whole "social life" ambitions came true. I even got a boyfriend, on my 16th birthday. That didn't last very long, but in my opinion, I reached all of my "social" goals. I made lots of friends, and the whole "dating scene" wasn't exactly empty. My goal for my junior year is to stay focused. I don't want to worry about boys and dates. My plan for this year, is to focus on Drill team, and ballet. My grades will be equally as important... but I want dance! I want to dance! I've discovered that I want to dance, that's all I ever want to do! Ballet, it's my passion. I love it! I want my technique to be strong, and I want to be able to look difficult tasks in the face, and laugh. I want to be strong, and well rounded when it comes to dance experience! I don't want anything distracting me. I am 110% dedicated to my dancing, and that's the way I want it to be! Dance is my favorite thing to do, and focusing on it... that's what I want out of my junior year.

Passion

I have recently rediscovered my love for Ballet, and Pointe, and just dancing. I love dancing without rules or requirements. I can only do Pointe with  my right foot, but I make the most of it... I can do pirouettes, and arabesques, and a few other things that I don't know how to spell in French. I love being able to do what feels right, instead of what I'm being told. When I'm on Pointe, it's almost like flying. It's surreal.
I've decided to start ballet again. I'm still doing drill team, no worries there, but I really feel like Ballet is what I need to do, for strength, technique, and just for the sake of doing it. I don't know what came over me, but I just want dance all the time. I want to stand on my toes, i want to sit in my splits, I want to hold my tilt extension for hours on end. When music plays, choreography runs through my mind, potential routines, and solos dance in my head. I just want to be on stage, in my Pointe shoes, leo, and tutu. I want my left ankle to just get better, I want my stupid boot off, so I can put my Gaynor Mindens back to work. The day will come, when I can barely make it through one pair of pointe shoes in one week, and am being called by every ballet company on this side of the country to choreograph and perform in their productions... at least, I hope it will. I've got a lot of work to do, but I know I can get there, with a little bit of hard work, effort, and focus... I'm not giving up... Ballet means too much to me.

That Awkward Moment When...

That awkward moment when... You see someone who mistook their lip liner for a brow pencil... That awkward moment when... Your friend tells a joke, and you're the only one who doesn't get it That awkward moment when... You ditch social dance to get ice cream, and the driver purposely drives through a red light, and then you have to tell you father (who is a police officer) about it That awkward moment when... You're in math, and think the geometrical name for a cone is a circular pyramid That awkward moment when... You're practicing turns, and end up on your butt That awkward moment when... Your two best friends take you driving past your ex-boyfriend's house, and his little brother is outside just creepily staring at you as you casually laugh, and remember what it's like to act a little bit crazy every now and then What a great week! Today has just been an interesting day, we should just leave it at that... Tomorrow is Friday... I have some pretty exciting. Plans! First, I'm getting blonde highlights and then Kylie and Sydnee have a dance recital... And the guy I like... His sister dances at the same studio, so I get to see him! I've only talked to him a couple of times, but he is such a cutie! He seriously has one of the greatest personalities! O man... I am looking forward to tomorrow!

I'm...

I'm exhausted, I'm upset, I'm confused, I'm wishing one of my old friends could be here right about now, I'm wishing I knew how he feels about me, I'm wanting a hug from him, I'm wanting to go to bed, I'm hoping tomorrow will be a little better.

Spring Break 2012

I have to say, Spring Break this year has been the best Spring Break yet! My family went on a cruise from Long Beach, California, down to Ensenada, Mexico. I absolutely loved it! There were dance classes on the ship every day, mostly Latin dancing, but I learned that I'm pretty good at the cha cha :) My favorite part of this trip was getting off in Ensenada... but I'll get to that a little later in this post! Let's see... where to begin...
Catalina Island! (That's our ship behind us). Catalina Island was a ton of fun! Shopping, shopping, shopping! It was a cloudy day, but it wasn't cold, and it didn't rain, which was nice! I can't say enough about this tiny island! I absolutely loved it!
On Catalina Island, there was a little arcade, and in this arcade, there was a mini bowling alley. I've never seen anything like that... we should get one in Utah :)
Ahh, the beach! We didn't get to play in the water, but we did get to walk along the beach, and of course take some pictures :) I think this is one of my favorite pictures from the cruise!
Formal night was one of my favorite nights on the cruise! I got to wear the dress that I wore to the Valentines Dance... it's one of my favorite dresses that I have :) I must say, the best thing I've ever eaten was served in the dining room... chocolate melting cake! If you've never ha it, I would recommend adding chocolate melting cake to the things you have to try before you die! Every night in the Dining Room they would have a mini-party... they did a dance party, they sang songs, and had magic shows! I loved the dining room... and I sat at a fantastic table, with great views of the ocean, and other beautiful things :)
Let me just say, this guy was hilarious! His name is Matt, and he's one of the entertainment directors. I won this prize during a trivia game... it was a pretty great night :)
Ensenada: My favorite part of the trip! Only my parents and I got off in Mexico. It was so nice getting to spend some time with just my parents (I think they're the coolest parents to ever live). This was on the tour bus, taking us to La Bufadora (the blowhole). Mexico is such an amazing place! It was really cool being able to talk to the tour guide in Spanish... it's amazing how much Spanish you remember, when you actually need/ want to use it. Touring through the city was really cool... the traffic is a little different than here in America, to say the least, but it was just incredible!
La Bufadora, behind my dad and me, you can see the water. La Bufadora is basically a blowhole that shoots water up, hundreds of feet into the air. The one behind us was a pretty weak one. This occurs because of the pressure under the water, and because of the rock formation.
The water shot up pretty high, and some people who didn't get out of the way fast enough got soaked. (We were lucky, we moved right after the picture was shot)
I got this parka at the Mexican flee market. This market was down the street on the way to the blowhole. The sales people are so funny. They will bargain and bargain, until you agree to buy something. I think we bought three things... my parka, a coconut, and churros... oh and I had a carne asada taco... the best I've ever had. It was completely safe, they assured us, and I didn't get sick after eating it. It was such an amazing day! Mexico was such a cool place!
Now that I'm back, I'm already planning a vacation next summer that consists of Universal Orlando, and a cruise out of Florida, down in to the Caribbean :) I absolutely love to travel! I got to try several new things, including lobster (never again will I eat anything that looks like it should still be alive). I also tried the Carne Asada, and up until the day in Ensenada, I had never had coconut juice (which was much better than the lobster). A few of my friends were daring enough to try sushi, and alligator... maybe I'll try that next cruise :) There were so many things that I will never forget!
Since I didn't have pictures of everything I'll post the highlights from this trip
1. The Food... the good, the bad, and the ugly. Good: Chocolate Melting Cake, Bad: Chicken, Ugly: Lobster. I had the chocolate melting cake every night. By the second night, the waiter knew exactly what I wanted, and he would just bring it to me.
2. The Towel Animals: I can't believe how cool those towel animals were! I got an elephant, bulldog, and a dinosaur! My parents and sisters got a seal, a turtle, and a bulldog.
3. The Glass Elevators: Sydnee would ride from the bottom to the top, over and over and over. No wonder we could never catch the elevator. The two times that we actually got on the elevator, it was really cool.
4. Teen Club/ Dancing: Okay, so I didn't exactly love the teen club, I liked being with a couple of my friends that I actually know. Dancing on the other hand... I loved that
5. Friends and Family: I got to go with my sister's dance group, because the last day we were there, they performed. Some of my friends also got to go with the dance group, and it was so much fun getting to see them. I loved hanging out with kids that I know that are my age...
I absolutely loved this trip... I can't wait until Summer, when I can travel again!
